Ainsworth pre Fleetwood Town

Wycombe taking on Fleetwood Town at Adams Park not only brings an end to a long season, but also to the Chairboys famous five year plan.

Bar an absolutely catastrophic set of results, it will be L1 survival and job done for Gareth Ainsworth.

I asked him about survival, the final game and those QPR rumours…

Gareth Ainsworth post Walsall

A tense and nervy affair was settled by a stunning Jason McCarthy free kick which took Wycombe to the brink of League 1 survival.

In what was probably the Chairboys worst performance of late, the win was reward for their excellent but fruitless endeavours against Rochdale, Charlton and Portsmouth.

With two games remaining and a superior goal difference to most of the teams around them, Wycombe still need a point to be 100% safe.

The relief at full time was palpable and soon after, I spoke to the Wanderers manager, Gareth Ainsworth:

Back In The Game!

The big kick-off is finally here and Wycombe Wanderers will begin life back in EFL1 against Blackpool at Adams Park. It’s the first time that the Chairboys have been in the third tier of English football since 2011/12 and they haven’t avoided relegation from this level since 2002/03.

I caught up with Wanderers manager, Gareth Ainsworth, ahead of the visit of The Seasiders and unsurprisingly, his first target this season is to ensure survival in League 1:
