The Little & Large Show Is Back

The Chairboys defeat against Bristol Rovers at Adams Park gave the home fans very little to cheer about after the Gas dominated large parts of the game and they deservedly took the three points.

However, the introduction of Scott Kashket as a second half substitute led to Wycombe making a real game of it in the closing stages.

The diminutive striker scored his first goal of the season late on after a knock down from the talismanic Adebayo Akinfenwa. It was a familiar sight from two seasons ago when Kashket and Akinfenwa were the scourge of League Two defences and Wanderers fans will be praying that Scott can stay fit and firing alongside The Beast.

After the game, I spoke with Kashket about his goal, fitness and his Panenka penalty against Northampton Town in the League Cup:

Wycombe Wanderers 1-2 Bristol Rovers

Wycombe Wanderers were made to pay the price for a slow start against their old friends, Bristol Rovers. Two first half corners led to the Chairboys conceding two cheap goals and they had a mountain to climb in the second half. The comeback looked very unlikely until a late Scott Kashket goal provided some hope for the home fans but it was too little, too late.

After the game I spoke to Wanderers manager, Gareth Ainsworth, for BBC Three Counties Radio:

Pirates On The Horizon

The Chairboy’s old friends Bristol Rovers are in town, complete with their new Jordanian owners. Both clubs have come a very long way since the climax of the 2013/14 season, and today meet in much healthier positions in the table. With only one point between the two sides and with Rovers on a three match winning streak against the Wanderers, it should be a tasty affair.
